Lake Toma with the tributary behind is the recognized source of the Rhine. The lake is 2345 meters above sea level. This is where the 1,230 kilometer journey of the Rhine to Rotterdam. It can be reached on foot from the Oberalp Pass in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The Lago di Dentro is the other source of the Rhine in the canton of Ticino. The lake is 2510 meters above sea level. This arm of the Rhine Medel is richer in gold and 8 kilometers longer. (All gold nuggets above are from the Rhine Medel)
